Academic Support Center

Nobody said college would be easy. Learning a new area of study can be a struggle, and sometimes you may need a little help. The Academic Support Center can equip you with the right strategies needed to improve your skills in writing, critical thinking, studying, mathematics, or course content.


Announcements

The ASC will be open on the following Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.:

  • Saturday, April 26, Saturday, May 3 and Saturday, May 10

    Walk-In Writing Center, Walk-In Math Tutoring, and (limited) Individual Tutoring appointments are available.

     

    “Advising Saturday Slams” – MCC General Studies Program will offer three full day “Advising Saturday Slams” at the Academic Support Center (SSC L282) for new and returning students Saturday, April 26, Saturday, May 3 and Saturday, May 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The General Studies Program invites evening students, adult learners, new and returning students as well as prospective students to stop by the Academic Support Center (SSC L282) for help with summer and fall registration, course planning, General Studies Program requirements, graduation and transfer. Individual and small group advising sessions will be planned. Come with MCC classmates or friends who are interested in applying to MCC.

Learning Assistance On Campus and Off

Working with our supportive tutors and staff, you can fully develop personal and academic skills, concepts, and confidence in a friendly, learner-centered environment. Tutoring is available on campus and online.

All services are free to currently enrolled students.

Our Programs

Academic Tutoring

The Academic Support Center offers individual and facilitated small-group tutoring free of charge to current Manchester Community College students, in courses they are presently taking.

Writing Center

The Writing Center is a place to write. Tutors are available on a walk-in basis to assist students while they are engaged in the writing process.

Walk-In Math Tutoring

Walk-In math tutoring is an alternative to an individual appointment with a math tutor. Walk-in hours are available for students who work independently or in small groups. Tutors are available during designated times to answer questions or assist students.

Online Tutoring

eTutoring is available online to Manchester Community College students in writing, math, accounting, biology, chemistry, and information literacy & research methods.

ESL Conversation Lab

Faculty and tutors lead an open discussion designed for students wishing to engage in dialog for the purpose of strengthening their English comprehension and verbal skills.

Calculator Loan Program

The ASC has calculators available for loan to students. Students may borrow a graphing calculator if their course requires it. The calculator must be returned at the end of the semester.  Calculators are limited in quantity and loaned on a first come first serve basis.

Computer Mini Lab

The Computer Mini Lab is located inside the ASC. Eight computers are available for students who wish to enhance their technology skills.  Tutors are available by appointment to answer questions or provide guidance.
