Fitness Specialist Program

Welcome! Fitness Specialists work with individuals on a one-on-one basis or in groups to improve health and fitness levels to their clients. As part of their work day, Fitness Specialists conduct fitness assessments, develop and lead exercise programs and perform administrative work such as leading tours of fitness centers or assisting with member registration.

MCC's Fitness Specialist certificate requirements include a mix of theory and hands-on course work and will prepare students to take a national exam to become a Certified Personal Trainer. Courses are offered in a traditional semester format and in an eight-week accelerated format. Additionally, the credits earned in the certificate program can be used to fulfill requirements for an associate of science degree in Health and Exercise Science for those students who wish to continue their education.
