Health and Exercise Science Program

Welcome! The MCC Health and Exercise Science program is designed for students who have an interest in understanding the importance of physical activity and exercise and their direct connection to prevention of disease and promotion of wellness and good health. It offers a mix of theory, hands-on/practical courses, and internships for majors. The courses in the program address the biophysical, physiological, health and socio-cultural aspects of the importance of physical activity and exercise in our daily lives. Understanding the human body and the role of exercise in the prevention of disease is an important part of this degree program. At MCC, students who complete this program receive certificates from the State of Connecticut in adult CPR, standard first-aid, sport injury and coaching.

This program is popular with students who complete the requirements, earn an associate of science degree and then choose to obtain employment in a field such as community recreation, education, sports communication and management, sporting goods manufacturing, sports medicine or community health. Students who graduate from this program are also well-prepared to transfer into a bachelor's degree program to continue their training.
