    Opening Reception: Things With Wings

    This is a Manchester High School, Great Path Academy and Manchester Community College Student Show, produced through Manchester Neighborhoods and Families, Youth Arts Initiative. Students have prepared work with the theme of "Things with Wings" all year long in art classes and special workshops at MCC. Wings and self-portrait/identity was an alternative theme for exploration. Come see fantastical creatures with wings in a wide variety of media, from wall pieces to jewelry design.

    Writing Contest Awards Ceremony

    The MCC Writing Contest encourages and recognizes the academic excellence of our students who excel in writing. Since 1991, the English Department has hosted an annual writing contest open to any person who has been a student at MCC during the current academic year. Typically, about 50-75 entries in six categories are judged by fifteen English Department faculty members. The generous support of the MCC Foundation makes these awards possible.

    International Film Series: Terraferma

    Terraferma (Italy). A local Sicilian community sees its traditional economy based on fishing threatened, its mode of life based on honor and the rough justice of the sea threatened by everything around it. And then an apparently bigger threat comes as desperate African boat immigrants start showing up at the shores, after having risked their lives in the stormy seas, flying in despair the devastated continent of their birth. 88 mins.
