    Join author and activist Josh Ruebner who will speak about his new book, Shattered Hopes: Obama's Failure to Broker Israeli-Palestinian Peace. A nationally known activist of peace in Israel-Palestine, he focuses on US efforts to broker a peace. Josh is a former founder and director of Jews for Peace in Palestine and Israel, and he addresses issues of social justice and Israeli-Palestinian unity for a just peace.

    Opening Reception: Things With Wings

    This is a Manchester High School, Great Path Academy and Manchester Community College Student Show, produced through Manchester Neighborhoods and Families, Youth Arts Initiative. Students have prepared work with the theme of "Things with Wings" all year long in art classes and special workshops at MCC. Wings and self-portrait/identity was an alternative theme for exploration. Come see fantastical creatures with wings in a wide variety of media, from wall pieces to jewelry design.

    Writing Contest Awards Ceremony

    The MCC Writing Contest encourages and recognizes the academic excellence of our students who excel in writing. Since 1991, the English Department has hosted an annual writing contest open to any person who has been a student at MCC during the current academic year. Typically, about 50-75 entries in six categories are judged by fifteen English Department faculty members. The generous support of the MCC Foundation makes these awards possible.

    CT Guitar Society Presents: A Night of Guitar

    CT Guitar Society present two classical guitar sets, followed by two jazz guitar sets featuring multiple artists including some duets. Award-winning guitarist Francesco Barone has performed throughout the Northeast United States and internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. Local guitar hero Frank Varela will demonstrate his unique style of playing jazz guitar and bass simultaneously. And, Turkish jazz guitarist Sinan Bakir is noted as a virtuoso player and a masterful composer by the music critics and his peers.

The Commencement Speaker will be Dr. Gina Barreca, Professor of English and Feminist Theory at the University of Connecticut. The Alumi Address will be delivered by Nancy Kelly, JD, MPP who is nationally recognized executive and lawyer and who has driven key strategic initiatives in the business, government, nonprofit and academic sectors.
