    Gallery Reception: 100 Mile Village

    100 Mile Village is a community arts exhibition presented by MCC on Main and Quest Arts. Co-curated by Kenyon Grant and Quron Brown, the exhibition features artists living and working in Connecticut with a focus on community engagement.     Urban Storytellers: Carl Dean

    Carl Dean is a poet and self-published author of “Life… Through the Words & Between the Lines”. For the past eight years Carl has taught a performance poetry course at the University of Connecticut where he works as an Academic Counselor. He plays the djembé (African drum) and often incorporates it into his performances. Carl is currently working on his second book of poetry, “Rhythm” which is scheduled to be published this fall.

    Live on Main: The Tonebanks with the Rick Murnane Band

    Teaming up as The Tonebanks, Eric Bloomquist (The Grimm Generation) and Julie Beman (The Dress-Ups) make synthpop music using brains, voices, laughter and multiple Casio keyboards. Rick Murnane is best known for his songwriting and guitar work, along with one of those voices that's perfect for pop-rock. Rick's most recent effort is the 2012 album Wednesday Child, described in Performer Magazine as "beautiful, psychedelic material suitable for any day of the week." Wine & beer from bin228.

    Tick Tick BOOM! Improv

    Tick Tick BOOM! is a comedy troupe from Hartford, Conn that does long and short form improvisational and sketch comedy. The group formed on Valentine’s Day 2012 when they all accidentally ended up on a date together in a Three’s Company-style mix-up. TTB have performed at venues all around the greater Hartford area and recently completed a six-month winning streak at the Playhouse on Park's 2012-13 CT Improv Cage Match Series and are an official selection of the 2013 Providence Improv Festival.

    Dan Merritt is a fingerstyle guitarist/genre-bender from East Hartford, Connecticut.
    His music is an unorthodox mix of percussive fingerstyle guitar with some ambient and IDM flair. He draws much of my technique from Michael Hedges and Preston Reed, but additionally carries influence from Boards of Canada and Tycho.
