Manchester Community College Appoint New Members to Foundation Board

Manchester, CT – (May 21, 2010) . . . The Manchester Community College Foundation recently appointed new members to its board of directors.

Pankaj N. Patel, of Tolland, is the general manager of manufacturing for Timken Aerospace Transmissions, LCC in Manchester. Patel has over 28 years of experience in gear engineering and transmission manufacturing, including 24 years in aerospace and helicopter transmissions.

Terri Provost-Daar, of Vernon, is the manager of operations for the Accelerated Dental Training Institute in Manchester. She is also an active volunteer for the Fibromuscular Dysplasia Association, an organization that supports awareness, education and research for those afflicted with the disease.

Elizabeth G. Shluger, of Glastonbury, is the executive director of the Hartford Marathon Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization that produces 27 fitness events annually including road races, training programs for adults and children, triathlons and duathlons. Shluger also serves as the race director for the ING Hartford Marathon.

John Swanson, of Marlborough, is an attorney for the U.S. District Court of Connecticut. Swanson volunteers as a coach for the RHAM high school mock trial team and the Marlborough Youth Athletic League baseball and basketball teams.

Joann E. Thulin, of Manchester, is a retired acting director of Nursing Services for Westside Care Center/Victorian Heights in Manchester. Thulin serves as a volunteer for the Manchester Area Conference of Churches shelter, the Manchester Garden Club and the South United Methodist Church as a parish nurse and member of the choir.

Richard J. Trachimowicz, of Princeton, MA, is the senior vice president of Human Resources and Organizational Development for Rockville Bank. He is a member of the Connecticut Bankers Association’s Management Development Committee, and serves on the board of directors for the Center for Financial Training, Atlantic and Central states. Trachimowicz is also active in alumni affairs for Trinity College.

The Manchester Community College Foundation is a private, nonprofit, 501(c) (3) Connecticut corporation. It is governed by a volunteer board of directors, composed of business and community leaders. Its board meets bi-monthly and lends its considerable expertise to the operations of the Foundation and the College’s development program.

Students of any age who possess the desire to pursue higher education are welcome at Manchester Community College.
