MCC NetID Help
Reset NetID
NetID is the account used to login to computers at MCC as well as access online information from the MyCommnet portal system.
NetID Username
Your NetID username is composed of the following two items:
- Your Banner ID (without the @ sign)
- For students: Domain = @student.commnet.edu (even though it looks like an email address, email is not available)
If you had the Banner ID of @01234567, then your NetID username would be:
01234567@student.commnet.edu - For faculty and staff: Domain = @mcc.commnet.edu (even though it looks like an email address, email is based on your first initial + last name)
If you had the Banner ID of @01234567, then your NetID username would be:
01234567@mcc.commnet.edu
NetID Password
Your initial NetID password will be a combination of personal information as follows:- 1st three characters of birth month with the first letter CAPITALIZED
- Ampersand character (&)
- Last 4 digits of your social security number (SSN)
Password Requirements
The following requirements must be followed when selecting a NetID password.- At least eight characters
- Must contain characters from three of the four categories:
- 1. Uppercase characters (A through Z)
- 2. Lowercase characters (a through z)
- 3. Numeric digits (0 through 9)
- 4. Special characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
- Can not contain all or part of the user's NetID account name
- Password must differ from previous passwords
- Password is forced to change every 90 days, but can be changed sooner
Forgotten Passwords: Web Password Reset Utility
Students and faculty can access the NetID web utility to allow you to reset lost or forgotten NetID passwords. This is available through College kiosks or any computer with a web browser. It can also be used from home. Note – you must set your hint question in MyCommnet before you can use this utility.
Below is a list of locations where the password utility can be accessed:
- Library
- Open computer labs (B205/B206)
- College kiosks in AST tower lobby, and first and second floor of the entry between the Lowe and Learning Resource Center
- From any computer connected to the Internet
Prior to resetting a password, you will have to verify your identity by entering the following personal information in addition to their BANNER ID.
- Birth Date
- Social Security Number
- MyCommnet hint question
NetID Help for Students
Students should first use the web reset utility. If that fails, they can come in person to either the Registrar’s Office or Technology Help Desk (room L204) for a reset. Please have valid ID available. The Registrar’s office can also remotely reset student passwords via fax: Download the Reset Banner ID / PIN Document
NetID Help for Faculty and Staff
Faculty should first use the web reset utility (this is not available to staff). If that fails, they can come in person to either the Technology Help Desk (room L204) or Registrar’s Office for a reset. Please have valid ID available.
