A staff of professional counselors provides a comprehensive developmental counseling program designed to assist students with academic, vocational and personal issues. Counselors are available by calling the Counseling office at 860-512-3320 to schedule an appointment. For current and returning students, walk-in services are also available on Tuesday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. during the academic year.
Events and activities are often provided by the staff throughout the year on a wide range of topics and issues. Counselors also offer credit courses focusing on college success.

Free and Anonymous Mental Health ScreeningMCC is committed to the overall health of our students. As a service, MCC provides access to a free and anonymous screening tool for mental health related issues , which screens for alcohol use, suicide prevention, post-traumatic stress, generalized anxiety, bipolar and eating disorders.
The results of the screening are completely anonymous and made available only to the participant.
This resource is provided to assist students determine if a consultation with a mental health counselor would be helpful.

Students Considering “Transferring In” To Manchester Community College From Other Institutions:

Incoming “transfer in” students are responsible for providing the MCC Admissions Office with an official copy of their transcript(s) from any other institutions(s) that they hope to transfer credits. Transcript(s) must be evaluated by the MCC Admissions Office prior to meeting with a counselor/advisor. Once the transcript has been evaluated by the MCC Admissions Office, “transfer in” students are encouraged to come in during “Walk In” hours: Tuesdays from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.. Students unable to meet during scheduled walk in sessions can stop by the MCC Advising and Counseling Center and will be seen on a first-come basis depending on the availability of Advising and Counseling Center staff.
The MCC Advising and Counseling Center is located on the 1st floor of the Lowe Building, Room L – 108.

- Developmental — To help students enhance their growth and benefit from the academic environment.
- Remedial — Recognizing that some students experience significant personal adjustment difficulties that may require immediate professional attention, to assist them in overcoming current specific personal and educational problems.
- Preventive — To anticipate environmental conditions that may negatively influence student welfare and to initiate intervention that will neutralize such conditions.
