Science and Technology Reaching Out to New Generations in CT (STRONG-CT)

The STRONG-CT program was a grant funded collaboration between the University of Connecticut (UConn), Manchester Community College (MCC), Three Rivers Community College (TRCC) and Quinebaug Valley Community College (QVCC). The program formally ended in 2011 but the mission of the program remains strong - to increase diversity in the life sciences. STRONG-CT targeted first generation and historically underrepresented student populations to increase enrollment, retention and graduation of students from both the community colleges and the University of Connecticut. At MCC, students upon graduating with their Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, are encouraged to transfer to UConn or other four year colleges to pursue their Bachelor Degree in the life sciences. The University of Connecticut offers 13 bachelor degree programs of study under the STRONG-CT alliance.
