Placing Materials on Reserve

Any faculty member (full- or part-time) may put materials on academic reserve in the library.

Faculty-provided materials may include:

  • Textbooks
  • Supplemental Reading
  • Photocopies of Articles
  • Answer Keys
  • Study Guides
  • Videos
  • DVDs
  • CDs
  • Audiocassettes

Library-owned materials may also be placed on reserve:

  • Books & Texts
  • Videos & DVDs
  • CDs & audiocassettes

Note: Reference items and periodicals from the library collection may not be placed on reserve, since these items do not circulate outside of the library and are always available for student use in the library.

Request Placement for Reserves

To put materials on reserve, please download and submit a Reserve Request Form and return it to the library with the materials you wish to place on reserve. These forms are also available in the Library.

Processing and Fulfillment

The library requires a 48-hour processing period to put materials on reserve. If you wish to put photocopies on reserve, please supply one copy per 15 students in the class. The library does not make photocopies; please supply the appropriate number of photocopies you wish to make available to your students. Multiple copies of the same item may be given different loans periods (for example, if two copies of the same text are put on reserve one may be for library use only while the second one is made available for two-day loan).
