LIQUID
An Exhibition of Contemporary Video Works
March 19th - May 1st
Opening Reception
April 9th, 6PM
The Hans Weiss Newspace Gallery is fortunate to be presenting LIQUID an exhibition of works by 4 contemporary video artists. Which offers a diverse look at how video is being approached as a medium today. These works powerfully reflect and explore human experience and help to explain why video has become such a viable means of visual communication.
Art has always made use of available technology as in, for example, photography. The use of video is one more tool for artists to use to explore the human condition. But unlike much Art, which is physically unchanging, such as painting and much sculpture, video is fluid. The moving images of video parallel our experience of moving through the world. As with video there is nothing static about our existence. In our interaction with the natural world all is ever changing: as we move our heads to take in our surroundings, as what we are looking at itself changes, and too what we think, feel, and do in response to what we see and hear is in continual evolution. Video enacts this by directing our visual, emotional and psychological awareness in the same ever-changing manner through which our lives are lived. And with both when let loose, like liquid, there is no telling where or how they will go, only that they will.
