International Students

The Office of International Affairs / Enrollment Management Unit is here to assist international students meet their academic, social and cultural needs while attending Manchester Community College. The Office provides information, programs, activities and services to increase international awareness for the college community at large and to assist international students with all of the academic opportunities that the College has to offer. International students speaking over 50 languages representing over 70 countries have attended MCC and many students transfer to four-year institutions to further their academic goals. International application materials are available in the Office of International Affairs, Admissions Office.

International students on a visa other than F1 may enroll for classes at MCC, but they should consult with the Director of International Affairs/PDSO or the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), to verify student eligibility and enrollment status. All international students on non-immigrant visas will be charged out-of-state tuition and fees.

Admissions Process

To be admitted to the College and to register for classes, all international students seeking F1 student visas must:
  • Submit an MCC admissions application with a $20.00 non-refundable fee.
  • Submit official proof of high school completion - which must be in English, or GED.
  • Submit an Affidavit of Support, with proof of financial responsibility and name of citizen/permanent resident sponsor.
  • Pass the TOEFL exam – minimal score of 70 IBT or 173 CBT.
  • Schedule to take the MCC Assessment Test for English and math placement.
  • Meet with the Director of International Affairs/PDSO to process an I-20 Sevis application for United States Government international visa processing.

All I20 documents must be submitted to the Office of International Affairs by August 15, 2014 for the Fall 2014 semester. I-20 students must maintain full-time status (12 or more credits/hours per semester). International F1 students pay non-resident full time tuition and fees for a total of $5,659 per semester, or $11,318 per year – effective Fall 2014 and subject to change.


Housing

Manchester Community College does not have housing or dormitory provisions. Visit the Office of Student Activities' Local Housing web page for resources about local renting opportunities.

International I-20 Information Session dates and times are provided on a weekly basis, however they are subject to change. Please contact 860-512-3213 for further information and confirmation.

International students interested in attending MCC with an F1 visa should contact the Director of International Affairs to ensure that their I-20 application is processed in a timely manner for appropriate service, or U.S. State Department Embassy approval.
